Need to speed up Smart City works: E.G. Collector
‘Steps will be taken to supply drinking water to all houses by year-end in Kakinada’ Highlighting the need for speeding up the works taken up under the Smart City initiative, East Godavari District Collector and special officer of the Kakinada Municipal Corporation Kartikeya Mishra on Friday said that steps would be initiated to ensure supply of drinking water through pipelines to all the householders by the end of the current year.
Reviewing the ‘Smart City’ works here, he said that the history and culture of Kakinada city should be replicated in the design of projects taken up under the initiative. “The road to be laid from MSN Charities to Sarpavaram Junction should become a role-model for all other works to be taken up under Smart City,” he said. The Collector advised the officials to study the road network around the Golden temple in Amritsar, so that they could get a better idea about the design of the new road.
Railway bridge works
Mr. Mishra further highlighted the need for speeding up the works of Kondaiahpalem Railway Bridge, as the residents were facing difficulties, as the project was only halfway through for quite a long time.
Municipal Commissioner S. Aleem Basha made PowerPoint presentation on the Smart City project and said that of the proposed Rs. 1,993 crore budget, a sum of Rs. 382 crore had been released so far.
He explained in detail various works taken up under the initiative.
