SMART CITY: BHUBANESWAR GETS MOST ‘LIKES’ ON FB

Kudos to all Bhubaneswar lovers, it has topped in social media platform Facebook, with the capital of Odisha getting maximum ‘likes’ in its smart city campaign page recently.The Bhubaneswar – Smart City page in Facebook is the official page of the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC); it is an interactive platform for the citizen’s involvement in the exciting journey to prepare the Smart City road map.

“We were number 1 in citizen connect initiative last week. We will organise a number of other events to get more ‘likes’ including Smart City Lab. We will particularly target the youth who can be encouraged though various interesting activities,” said Srimanta Mishra BMC deputy commissioner.Bhubaneswar was chosen as one of the 20 cities in India as part of first phase of the smart city campaign launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2015, a smart city being one which is able to attract investments.

In India 100 cities have been named in Smart Cities Mission, with Rs 100 crore to be given to each city per year for the next five years. In the first phase, 20 cities including Bhubaneswar are in the offing.The official page of BMC has shown a growth of 52% last week from previous week. With the Bhubaneswar page registering 20.9k likes, IT city Pune is first with 38.9k likes followed by Indore (30.8k) and Nagpur (23.7k).Though the temple city is in 4th position in its popularity among the 20 cities but it is first in online voting, according to the BMC official.
